Second Harvest
Second Harvest is Canada’s largest food rescue program. For the past 26 years, Second Harvest has been picking up donated, excess food, which would have otherwise gone to waste, and delivering that food to 216 community agencies in Toronto. Currently, Second Harvest rescues and delivers enough food to provide 18,000 meals each day to Toronto’s most vulnerable. Find out more at secondharvest.ca. The Second Harvest truck arrives at The Good Neighbours Club on a daily basis, and the unloading is assisted by our members on an "all hands on deck" basis, and then received, rotated, and refrigerated by staff who are specially trained in food-handling.
