Rotary Health and Wellness Centre Update
All things come to those who wait, says the proverb.
Plans are being finalized, city approvals are being gathered, and working plans at The Good Neighbours' Club are being laid for the creation of the Rotary Health and Wellness Centre on the second floor of The Good Neighbours' Club.
The Centre will feature a series of clinician rooms to be used by our street nurses, counsellors, dental hygenists, podiatrists, and other professionals as they serve our members' needs. Construction should begin early in the new year.
The use of these flexible-spaces will offer better working conditions for those who work with our men. This in turn will lead to more complete service, as privacy will allow for fuller disclosure and better diagnoses.
The creation of the Centre was made possible by a $100,000 grant from The Rotary Club of Toronto, who are celebrating their 100th anniversary of "Service Above Self" in 2012.
This is not the first example of the Rotary Club's generosity to The Good Neighbours' Club. In 2007, the Rotary Club of Toronto donated a van which we use for food and clothing pick-ups.
